Instructions for Employer Registration
In order to complete your registration, you will need the following information. Please make sure to have this information available before continuing.
Employer Name and Doing Business As Name
Employer Federal Identification Number (FEIN)
Entity Type. The entity type is based off of the type of Federal Tax form that you file.
If you file a 1120 or 1120S please indicate Corporation or Corporation LLC
If you file a 1065 please indicate Partnership or Partnership LLC
If you file a 1040, Schedule C, Schedule E, Schedule F, or Schedule H please indicate Individual or Individual LLC
If you file a 990, please determine if you are a 501(c)(3).
If you are a 501(c)(3), please indicate 501(c)(3). Additionally, you will need to email a copy of your IRS Exemption Letter to tax@mdes.ms.gov.
If you are not a 501(c)(3), please indicate Corporation or Corporation LLC.
If you are an agricultural or 501(c)(3) employer, you will need to know the number of employees you had in each week of the last 2 calendar years.
You will need to provide the total gross wages of all employees in Mississippi in each quarter since you began employing individuals in Mississippi unless you are a 501(c)(3) employer.
If you acquired, merged, or otherwise obtained your business you will need to email the purchase or merger agreement to tax@mdes.ms.gov.
If your business changed Federal Id Numbers, you will need to email a copy of the IRS letter showing your new FEIN to tax@mdes.ms.gov.
If you are a Governmental entity that is based in another state but wishes to register as a State or Local Government, please call 601-493-9427 or email tax@mdes.ms.gov for additional assistance.
